Neighborhood Watch
Latest News
The following was taken from a post on the message board from the Watch Coordinator:
We are now looking for volunteers to help with the neighborhood watch. We are not setting up a standard run of the mill watch. This one will be very well coordinated and will require at least some involvement from every homeowner. Don't let the involvement deter you. Everything is being set up to where the different group leaders will only be responsible for a small number of homes and the amount of time spent will be minimized. The more volunteers we have the less everyone will have to do.
The neighborhood will be divided up geographically and each section will have a leader. If there are no volunteers in your section then you will most likely be excluded from the benefits of the watch. We have close to 1100 homes and I will not place more responsibility on those who did the right thing and volunteered in order to make up for those who refused to help their neighbors and participate.
If you are fine with the increasing crime, having your valuables stolen, property destroyed, huge decreases in property value and having yourself and your property violated, then by all means don’t volunteer. However, if you want to better your quality of life, live in a place that is safer for yourself, your family and neighbors, than please volunteer. There are so many benefits that can be derived from a well functioning neighborhood watch program. The effectiveness of the program depends on you. We can make a serious dent in the crime that is afflicting the neighborhood if we all volunteer just a few minutes of our time.
Here is the current plan for communication and leadership of the neighborhood watch with the responsibilities.
- Watch Coordinator – Coordinate all neighborhood watch activities. Serve as the liaison between the neighborhood watch, homeowners association and local law enforcement. (Position Filled)
- Section Commanders – Will assist Watch Coordinator. Organize assigned Block Captains. Pass and compile information provided by Block Captains and Watch Coordinator. (10-12 Positions Open)
- Block Captains-Communicate directly with assigned homes/residents. They will be contacted by residents in the event of a crime and will pass the information up the chain of information quickly (This way information can be sent out as quickly as possible and video from cameras can be pulled to help law enforcement). Notify Section Commander when assigned residents will be out of town for an extended period. (100 positions open)
- Residents- Assist assigned Block Captains. When going out of town residents can notify their Block Captains. If Block Captains are notified Neighborhood Watch participants can check on the residents’ home and property (peace of mind makes vacations and trips much more enjoyable). They can also give their Block Captain emergency contact numbers in case an issue arises.
As soon as we get most of the volunteers signed up a meeting will be scheduled to inform everyone how things will work.
Now that you have decided to participate please send the following information to watchcoordinator@gmail.com.
